We’re glad that God has given you a heart to pray for our president, members of Congress, the Senate, and governors. This is a fundamental privilege and calling we have as Christians. The Apostle Paul linked these prayers to the peace of a nation: “that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness” (v. 2).

But there’s something more. Paul followed this with an insight into God’s underlying work throughout all history: “This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (vv. 3–4).
