In January of 2020, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) took the Gospel to six cities across Florida. More than 39,000 people joined Franklin Graham during the Decision America Sunshine State Tour.
Jeremy Camp led worship during the Florida tour, where thousands indicated saying “yes” to Jesus Christ. Camp shared onstage, “Jesus loves you with all of His heart. No matter what you’re going through tonight, He is faithful.”
In February, Franklin Graham shared Christ with the remote Pacific islands of Saipan and Guam. At the Marianas Festival of Hope in Saipan, one out of every eight people responded to the invitation to receive Christ. In 2021, BGEA plans to resume in-person evangelistic outreaches around the world.
Though much of the world came to a screeching halt in March, BGEA’s ministry never stopped. As the coronavirus spread globally, a team of crisis-trained chaplains from the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team flew to Cremona, Italy—a COVID-19 hotspot—to illustrate the love of God to patients and medical staff at a Samaritan’s Purse emergency field hospital.
With millions shaken by the onslaught of an unknown virus, the loss of family members, friends, jobs and a sense of “normalcy,” BGEA pointed people to a never-changing God. Our Christian Response Team expanded its phone ministry through the Billy Graham Prayer Line, where people call in with their fears and concerns.

When New York City became the global epicenter of the coronavirus, another Samaritan’s Purse emergency field hospital was set up in Central Park. BGEA’s Rapid Response Team chaplains offered emotional and spiritual care to the frightened community.
While New York City battled the pandemic, Franklin Graham and Michael W. Smith had the opportunity to deliver an Easter message from Central Park.
Riots erupted nationwide after the death of George Floyd on Memorial Day, turning America’s attention to racial justice. A dozen chaplains from the Rapid Response Team ministered at his memorial site in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and later during protests in North Carolina.
Amid the pandemic and violence across America, Will Graham and Crowder teamed up to tell others of God’s promise to rescue us from brokenness. The online event was broadcast live from the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove in Asheville, North Carolina.
Just days before the Fourth of July, Will Graham preached another livestream message near Mt. Rushmore in South Dakota. Nearly 70,000 people across 45 countries watched online, with hundreds accepting Christ. Graham will return to the Black Hills next fall to continue sharing the Gospel.
At the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina, top Latin American musicians Marcos Wit, Christine D’Clario and Miel San Marcos recorded an online conference alongside Will Graham. Called Fidelidad Extrema, or Extreme Faithfulness, the event encouraged Spanish-speaking pastors to focus on a trustworthy God at this particularly challenging time for churches.
As ruthless wildfires plagued the West Coast, Billy Graham chaplains listened to residents’ stories and offered prayer. Tens of thousands attended Washington Prayer March 2020 with Franklin Graham in Washington, D.C. The prayer event started on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and concluded at the U.S. Capitol where Franklin Graham asked attendees to stretch their hands toward the building in prayer.
Vice President Mike Pence made a surprise visit at the Prayer March. During his remarks, Pence said, “Since the founding of our nation, the American people and our leaders have gone to prayer in challenging times.”
While many students have faced obstacles with virtual learning this year, the Prayer March enabled children to have an in-person and unifying experience, like this young man praying at the monuments.
Mike Huckabee and Cissie Graham Lynch hosted the Prayer March livestream, providing event updates and prayer focuses for a worldwide audience of 3.8 million people.
In October, crisis-trained chaplains deployed due to a coronavirus outbreak in Nassau, Bahamas. With family and friends unable to see loved ones in isolation, chaplains stood in to let COVID patients know they’re never alone.
BGEA’s Rapid Response Team (RRT) will expand its Law Enforcement Appreciation ministry to hurting cities in 2021. “God loves you,” RRT’s Kevin Williams said at this year’s fall retreat aimed to spiritually encourage law enforcement officers and their spouses. BGEA broke ground on the Billy Graham Archive and Research Center, set to open in 2022. Located near the Billy Graham Library in the late evangelist’s hometown of Charlotte, this state-of-the-art facility will be available to those wanting to study evangelism. Franklin Graham has appeared in 60-second TV ads to explain the Gospel and encourage viewers to call the Billy Graham Prayer Line. Anne Graham Lotz offered Biblical wisdom during multiple events at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove—including the Military Chaplain Retreat in early December. In the face of the pandemic, The Cove offered many streaming events for those seeking spiritual refreshment but unable to leave home.
Although 2020 came with unforeseen changes, the Billy Graham Library was still able to hold its annual Christmas at the Library event. With COVID precautions in place, visitors enjoyed a live nativity, horse-drawn carriage rides and celebrating the Savior’s birth.
In mid-December, BGEA hosted law enforcement dinners, where more than 200 officers and their spouses escaped the pressures of everyday life. They received Biblical guidance for their high-stress roles and connected with others over a nice meal. Offer hope and healing to those who selflessly serve our communities every day.
